company history
Wellcom began operations in 2000 as a private company, before listing on the ASX in July 2005. The core competency of our foundation business was graphic arts and digital asset management, generally referred to as pre-media. Pre-media is a niche industry, positioned between clients, advertising agencies and the end communication media of print, television and more recently the internet.
The company, founded by Wayne Sidwell, identified a need in the market, and developed a proprietary content management platform, with inbuilt workflow technology, known as Knowledgewell. The Sidwell family has been a leader in the graphic arts industry in Australia, and some would argue the world, for over 50 years. The Sidwells have built an enviable reputation for embracing technology, extracting its potential and deploying solutions to market that make significant and measurable difference.
Wellcom is a continuation of the dynasty. With strong relationships and a solution that is best in market, the business transformed from a relatively small private company employing 12 staff in 2000 to a global entity proudly supported by a talented team of 400 in 2011. Wellcom delivered on its promise, removed costs, automated tasks, simplified process management and streamlined workflow, with the key objective of making our customer's life easier. The flow-on effect of these efficiencies was that our customers have been able to transition quickly from traditional advertising into what we now term the multi-channel marketing arena.
Operationally, Wellcom has expanded from Melbourne to now service our clients with production facilities in Sydney, Adelaide, New Zealand, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur. We followed our clients into aligned markets and extended our product offering from print to multi-channel and now include television production, digital and creative services in our solutions.
We are proud of the company we keep and will continue to lead the industry and importantly, listen to our customers, and continually tailor our offering, to meet the needs of the market.
